Memorial Parl Visual Arts

Visual Arts

In visual arts class, students will explore a variety of art media including but not limited to: pencil drawing, watercolor painting, acrylic painting, printmaking, collage, ceramics and other forms of three dimensional art.  Students will apply the concepts of craftsmanship and composition.  They will synthesize turning basic shapes into complex forms, enabling them to draw whatever they see.  Most importantly, students will connect an appreciation for art throughout history with their own ability to convey their own unique ideas through art.

Students in our visual arts classes participate in the Scholastic Art Competition, hosted by the Fort Wayne Museum of Art. During the 2017-2018 school year, Memorial Park had 27 students win a total of 39 awards. These art pieces are displayed at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art during the month of February. Student artwork is also displayed at Artlink, as well as throughout the school building.
